In Response to Rich Gordon’s “Good Email Standards” Article

Today I read an excellent article on Music Think Tank by Rich Gordon entitled “The Importance of Good Email Standards“. This article touched on some great points on how to handle email communication, many of which I have experienced personally. Being on the receiving end of email communications, I can attest that brevity and personality are two huge points for me. I cannot count how many times I have received emails, that I signed up for, only to be turned off by the overly long communications lacking any sort of style or personality. One trend that I have noticed, especially with podcasters, is the removal of a kind of artistic veil — as opposed to writing in the third person (or even worse, the royal “we”), many more content makers are connecting directly with their audience as real people with real day to day issues. That’s one thing that I have been trying to accomplish here. I am sure that people are interested in a lot of facets of music making; but sometimes, there can be too much information.
